Maddie Baker is an illustrator and comic maker from Idaho. She recently graduated from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts with an MFA in Illustration and Visual Culture. She loves cannellini beans, Jane Austen, and working with analog media. Her work is about the beauty and humor of everyday life, especially in autobiography and stories about women.
This presentation explores how a personal comic making practice evolved into a study on how and why comic makers use animal characters in autobiographical narratives about everyday life.
