Ryan Hartley Smith

Hi, I'm Ryan. I am an interdisciplinary artist and associate professor in the MFA Illustration program at FIT. In my studio and teaching practices I gravitate toward projects that seek to enhance people’s ability to navigate the world with authenticity, dignity and safety. In particular, I connect with and am inspired by legacies of art-centered activism within New York City's LGBTQ+ community. When I am not in my studio or classroom you can find me learning choreography from the early aughts in a dance class for geriatric millennials in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
