Jessi Cerutti is an artist, educator, and arts administrator who has spent her career producing artworks, collaborative projects and exhibitions, independently and with various institutions. She works closely with Illustration and Visual Culture graduate students to incorporate Special Collections into their practice and produce an annual exhibition. Her studio practice explores memory and history through printmaking and fiber arts.
Special Collections can be a powerful tool for both teaching students about research and inspiring them in the studio. Washington University in St. Louis fosters a unique collaboration that enables students in the MFA in Visual Culture (MFA-IVC) program to utilize this tool and learn to take advantage of the plentiful resources discovered through research and practice in the archive.
